Episode 08: PSA, the planet of luck goes retrograde

We chat about how to track your growth, abundance and luck this year, and how to make more of it.

Intro

Lucy (00:00:15):

Hi guys, welcome back.

PSA, we have the planet of luck going retrograde as of about 20 minutes ago. We started the week with Mercury trying Jupiter yesterday. I'm saying starting because it was a public holiday, so...

And now we have Jupiter going retrograde. It's going to retrograde back to 11 degrees in Gemini. So it's a real time to review all the things we've kind of faced expansion in since Jupiter entered Gemini back in, I think it was May.

And we also have Pluto going direct later in the week on October 11th, which is going to be scorpionic because we've been reviewing a lot of that kind of underworld inner psyche kind of thing and all the unsaid and all the hidden elements.

Annalise, how are you finding it?

Anneliese (00:01:12):

I'm good.

Like I've had a very productive week, which I attribute to, the Mercury trine Jupiter because I have been I mean probably you know this from working with me we get quite scattered but now I just I feel like I've got this like laser focus and I'm just like every like I feel like I'm like usually when I'm like I've got so much here and I've got I'm so overwhelmed I just do like little bits and pieces but at the moment I'm like I've got a lot to do and I'm like happily doing it and doing like multiple things at once and just like ticking all these boxes.

Lucy (00:01:55):

I've really felt that with the move of Jupiter into Gemini that like I've always been a tunneler and I need to do things one at a time. I've got an alternating palette in human design.. um so it is about like simple foods like one after the other kind of thing but with this transit I've really been feeling like it's about getting into the flow and like multitasking and like the swiftness that comes from multitasking of like being able to flow from one task to the next and like the the efficiency of that of like stacking your day with all the different areas of things that you need getting done going from like a freelance project to your own project to a collaboration to like admin and just like yeah hyper organized focus if that makes sense for sure I felt

Anneliese (00:02:46):

like I mean we discussed in Virgo season a lot about like getting back into routine and good habits and I feel like I did that and like stacked these kind of like morning rituals up where it was like you know, a little bit of movement, a little bit of like visualization, a little bit of like beauty rituals, whatever and so that's kind of like my base but and now maybe that's also what's helped but it's like yeah I'll like do my work and usually when I'd come home from work I'd be like oh I'm too tired to do anything but now I'm like have a rest and then I'll be like I'll do this project and this project and this and I'll film this while I cook this and I'll write this and I'll do this post and I'll DM this person and reply to this blah blah blah and it's like feels effortless

Lucy (00:03:32):

Yeah, it's like Tetris a little bit. Like you have foundation blocks and you squeeze different things in that fits best together.

Anneliese (00:03:39):

Yeah. So I'm, yeah, really liking it.

Lucy (00:03:44):

What do you think the retrograde is going to be like?

Anneliese (00:03:47):

I don't think it will be that bad.

Like I don't think retrogrades are, I feel like retrogrades were made to be like clickbait to get people to like astrology but um and we spoke about this in our mercury retrograde it's just like a lot about and you said this at the start of the episode a lot about like just internally reflecting um and so jupiter for those of you guys who don't know is like the planet of expansion and luck and like abundance it's the biggest planet in our solar system so there's kind of this um the kind of energy that Jupiter brings is anything it touches kind of expands and grows.

And so wherever Jupiter is in your chart, you're most likely to have some kind of like abundance and expansion.

Lucy (00:04:40):

Where's yours?

Anneliese (00:04:44):

Mine's on my ascendant.

Lucy (00:04:46):

Oh, damn.

You must be so lucky.

Anneliese (00:04:48):

I don't know if I am, but...

I feel like the more I am myself, the more things come to me, which is what I kind of attribute to that.

And I feel like when I go through periods where I'm like in kind of like an in-between phase of like who I am is when it's like nothing comes to me and then, I'll like step into this new phase and I'll be like, oh, I'm doing this now.

And then it'll be like I'm, you know,

here's a course you can do,

here's a session you can do,

oh, this person wants to speak to you, this or blah, blah, blah.

And so it's like the more I put myself, yeah, be myself, the more things come.

What about you?

Lucy (00:05:36):

Oh, that's lovely.

I have it in its fall. I've got a Capricorn Jupiter and it's in my 10th house in Placidius or 11th in Whole Sign, which,

Anneliese (00:05:48):

yeah,

Lucy (00:05:49):

it's not a fun one.

it's okay but like you know Capricorn's about hard work it's about long-term kind of plans you really have to chip away you have to follow the rules which I hate

Anneliese (00:06:05):

look at it as like it's a blessing because if you do what you apply yourself to will just naturally expand which I think is true of you

Lucy (00:06:15):

Yeah, but I'm a south node Aries.

So I like to just like I love to bang something out and just it'll do, you know, I'm really bad at. I think I often pick up and drop things. I have great follow through if I do it in the moment.

But in long term things, I change my mind too much about what I want. You know, I'm mutable.

I'm all immutable.

Anneliese (00:06:42):

Yeah, no, I get that.

I'm the same for a lot of Aries. It's fun to be fiery.

But, yeah,

Anneliese (00:06:53):

so Jupiter retrograde,

I think it's more about reflecting over, like, say how many months, five months or so.

I guess, like, where have you really, like, grown in your life?

Like, where have you seen a lot of growth?

Lucy (00:07:10):

Yeah.

Anneliese (00:07:11):

I mean, retrogrades are great because, you know, we can utilize that time to reflect, which sometimes we just like forget to do because we're always on the go.

But if you use this kind of time period to reflect back on the last five months and think about like what you were doing then compared to like now, what areas of your life have grown, And, like, why do you think that's so?

And, like, can you keep that kind of momentum or can you, like, streamline your life more focused?

Lucy (00:07:44):

I've been thinking about that exactly,

like the whole thing of where you focus energy goes and being more mindful about what you're growing by focusing on and giving attention to.

Because I feel like so many of us fall into the trap of, like, giving too much time to the things we're obligated to but not enough time to the thing we love.

Anneliese (00:08:04):

Very much so.

And also, like, that can be the same with, like, thoughts as well, you know, if you have negative thoughts, which I know we will all have, like, an inner critic, but, like, the more you focus on that, the more you see yourself as that and the more you kind of become that.

So, yeah, reflect on, like, who you want to be, how you have been that, and how you can be more of that.

Lucy (00:08:36):

yeah that's interesting I feel like also given that Pluto is going direct maybe you were coming out of some lessons there too have you felt Pluto retrograde at all um

Anneliese (00:08:51):

I mean I think Pluto is more a like collective planet for me like I mean I definitely like can feel like platonic moments and like shifts um And I very much understand how it affects my personal chart, which I think I've discussed before.

But I think when Pluto moves, I can see it more in like the world than I can in like my day-to-day kind of life.

Lucy (00:09:21):

With so many things being plutonic at the moment,

like that whole,

I think at the moment it's still Scorpio-Venus, and we just had a Libra eclipse ruled by Scorpio-Venus, and I feel like there's a bit of a mesh of Pluto in this Libra season.

With it going direct,

do you think that means we're coming out of it into some lightness because we need a break?

Anneliese (00:09:45):

I think so, and I think also if you think about Pluto because Pluto retrograde back through Capricorn,

which is very like Saturnian and like authoritarian and restrictive and, you know, lays down the law. So it was like that last little like.

Lucy (00:10:03):

The fun place to have my Jupiter.

Anneliese (00:10:05):

Yeah.

Lucy (00:10:05):

Where they lay down the law and it's like constricted and like.

Anneliese (00:10:15):

But now that it's going to like move back into Aquarius, which is like, you know, much, it's about like individual liberation really. So I do think, and it's an air sign, so like it's this move out of this like heavy kind of dark earth into this darker kind of air, but it's automatically kind of lighter,

I think. Yeah.

Lucy (00:10:41):

Do you think there's anything interesting going on?

And I may be going to leaps and bounds here, but Jupiter retrograde goes back to 11 degrees of Gemini, which of course is the Aquarius degree.

Any, any tie through thread there?

Any take?

Anneliese (00:10:58):

I think so.

Like, I think, um, I think the thing with astrology is that there are always so many layers and threads. I think the Aquarian kind of energy is very much in its infancy right now, like collectively.

So I think there's a little signpost such as this 11th degree retrograde is,

it's kind of like little tastes of,

Lucy (00:11:33):

A little wink.

Anneliese (00:11:34):

Yeah, a little wink from the universe.

And you'll find that, I think, all through transit.

Like there'll be big ones and then there'll be like these little kind of moments around and you're like, oh, it's the same.

Lucy (00:11:48):

You end up like a Virgo with a bunch of red strings on the board.

Anneliese (00:11:56):

But I think Pluto moving into Aquarius will be, amazing for humanity but I think it probably won't start kicking in for another couple of years okay it is a big planet so slow burn um I do know that

Lucy (00:12:18):

and it's super early to be talking about this but people are talking about how the mars retrograde we're in the shadow period because it doesn't actually retrograde I think till november 18th or something like that but it's quite interesting that we have this whole pivot of planets changing you know we're coming out that summer of retrograde and everyone's changing motion um I don't know where my point is going with this.

Anneliese (00:12:47):

You're talking about lots of motion.

It's a bit chaotic for sure.

Lucy (00:12:54):

Yeah,

do you think there's a time for,

I mean, we'll discuss this next week, but the Aries supermoon is obviously Mars ruled.

But, like, I don't know, I feel like there's some kind of thread about reviewing plans on how you set yourself, how we were talking last week, but maybe more on a personal level than a relational level when we're talking about things

Gemini,

Mars,

Pluto kind of combination as a whole it's kind of it feels to me a bit like time to review plans on how you're channeling and asserting in projects in your mind in time as a resource.

Anneliese (00:13:34):

Yeah I definitely feel like that's a vibe for like most people I'm speaking to at the moment. I feel like when we had the cap full moons earlier this year, like when was it?

July or June.

I feel like everybody got these like big ideas about like where they wanted to be.

And then it was like very, very muddy.

No one really took it anywhere.

Or like, you know, just like very, very like slow and labored steps.

And then recently, like in the past, like two weeks or three weeks or so, I feel like everyone's got this like renewed kind of energy there.

And what you said about directing your energy to personal projects rather than things you're obligated to. I feel like I'm having a lot of conversations like that with a lot of people.

So I feel like that's kind of a collective energy, which is very Mars, right?

And it's very platonic and it's very Gemini.

It's like I can use my mind to assert to get what I want.

Lucy (00:14:42):

yeah and it's also a bit like funny because obviously cancer mars kind of gives that energy of where are you pouring from an empty cup because like you know cancer can get upset if they haven't poured enough into themselves for a very good reason

Anneliese (00:14:58):

i mean but yeah i think the um yeah it's like an interesting combo at the moment

because

Like Jupiter going back through Gemini, it's like very mental.

And then we'll have all of this kind of Mars action, which we'll probably go deeper into next week, but which is very action orientated.

So there's this kind of like pull between at the moment, like the mind and the physical.

Lucy (00:15:33):

And do you have any herbs that you'd recommend for dealing with that battle?

Anneliese (00:15:40):

I think that like clarity of mind is kind of important at the moment.

So like a Tulsi, which reminds me of a good one.

Lucy (00:15:49):

Tulsi.

I'm obsessed with Tulsi.

Anneliese (00:15:52):

I've said this on the podcast like 10 times and I keep forgetting.

But yeah, like Tulsi is great.

Maca root is like a really good one, which is very like, um, because it's like very there's kind of like a libido boost but also like very like mental focus um and

Lucy (00:16:12):

it tastes like caramel goodness so if you haven't tried maca please get some definitely

Anneliese (00:16:19):

it's like so good in desserts like to make caramel with like a bit of maca in it or like to put maca in chocolate is just like

Lucy (00:16:29):

even in a smoothie like a cacao and maca smoothie and it tastes like honeycomb it's like a crunchy bar

Anneliese (00:16:34):

honestly yeah it's so good and it's it's yeah it's so good for you for your like energy if you're feeling like depleted it's it's this really beautiful natural source of energy but also yeah like focus for the mind and also a libido booster which everybody kind of wants I guess yeah don't know sometimes you can have too much but yeah so yeah maca and tulsi i would

think and brahmi as well like brahmi is like an ayurvedic herb which is very like kind of brain brahmi is how i remember it but

You can get Brahmi oil and if you spray that oil on like the soles of your feet or like rub it into the soles of your feet and then like on your temples before you go to sleep,

you have like such a beautiful deep sleep, but you also wake up with this like very clear, crisp mind.

Lucy (00:17:34):

what is the whole thing with applying stuff to your soles of your feet because I've

heard people put potatoes on their soles of their feet seems to be some kind of

entry point that everyone kind of refers to can you tell me a bit more about that

Anneliese (00:17:58):

well not in specific details like why the soles of your feet like is it I think maybe because it's like the base of your body and like maybe there's a lot of like

skin open because I wouldn't think that but you know how you see there's a tough spot

too like really I don't know maybe that's my feet no it's true I actually don't

know but I know that like because I'll put like magnesium oil on the soles of my feet too but I've never actually thought about why and I've probably learned this

but I've forgotten it um

But, you know, there's like weird videos where they're like do this detox foot bath and, like, parasites come out of your feet, which I think is absolute bullshit.

Lucy (00:18:36):

I've seen so much about parasites lately, about how, like, most people get them and we don't talk about them enough. And I'm just like you never know when it's too, like, it's extremist woo or when it's a valid point.

But I was, like, talking to some other woman today and she was like, yeah, I thought it was a UTI but it was a parasite like so it does actually happen

Anneliese (00:19:03):

yeah no parasites definitely exist and like I went through a big like parasite cleansing phase I think when when I really started taking like holistic health seriously like just before I started um studying I was like I need to I was like inundated with like parasite videos on Instagram and I was like oh my god and I was like I have all the symptoms like blah blah and so I did this like kind of I think it was like seven or ten day parasite cleanse um herbal parasite cleanse um And I felt so good after and, like, everyone was like, wow, your eyes are so bright, your skin is so glowy.

And I hadn't told anybody I was doing it.

Lucy (00:19:44):

What's the cleanse?

Anneliese (00:19:46):

It was like the brand was called Cellcore and they're quite like a heavy dose of herbal medicine.

But there's basically you take, like, you take, like, a liver, like, support to open up your detox pathways.

like congest like you you don't have very open detox pathways like you don't sweat easily or like you have a lot of fluid retention or like um sounding like I need one of these to remove properly you have to you have to work to support your liver first before you start the cleanse because otherwise it will all just sit in your body so you take this liver support thing to kind of like, like cleanse your liver first and then you take like these parasitic um eliminators

which is like wormwood um black garlic and there's like a few others papaya seeds

Lucy (00:20:42):

even like I love how medieval that sounds

Anneliese (00:20:49):

wormwood black garlic and so that will like kill the parasites within you and then you have to take like a binder so

whether it's like a charcoal or um

a humic and folic acid combo so when these things die off they bind to these um

other substances so that they can be eliminated from your body so if they just die

off and you don't then you're gonna feel like hell because you'll have all of this

parasites in you so it's it's a like it's definitely like a thing um but it's just

People can get, like, really obsessed with it.

But I think that's when they're selling you a parasite cleanse as well.

Lucy (00:21:30):

I feel like it's wild,

though,

because a lot of the symptoms are symptoms that could be for other things too.

So it's hard to know if you actually need a parasite cleanse or not.

Because I know some people will go and get,

like,

things done for parasites, you know,

the hose option, you know..

Anneliese (00:21:51):

Yes.

I've never gotten that.

Lucy (00:21:54):

Yeah, that sounds evasive, but you would be very clean after.

Anneliese (00:21:57):

Very.

But, no, it's definitely a thing.

And I think everybody does kind of, like, need to do it from time to time.

I feel like I think every, like, 18 months now I'll do, like, a mini one, like a three-day one or whatever.

But that initial one I was like, oh, yes.

Lucy (00:22:19):

Next time you do one, let me know.

I want to join and copy it.

Anneliese (00:22:23):

Yeah, let's do it.

Lucy (00:22:27):

But what have you been doing?

Anneliese (00:22:29):

Actually, cooking and astrology.

Lucy (00:22:34):

Cooking, astrology and parasites.

Lucy (00:22:39):

I mean, Scorpio season.

I mean, sorry, Pluto going retrograde soon.

We're weeding out everything there.

Lucy (00:22:52):

Sorry.

Anneliese (00:22:54):

We're going to ask the same thing.

I'll ask you first.

What have you been cooking?

Lucy (00:23:00):

I have been in a real egg moment at the moment.

I’ve been making boiled eggs or like today I made, oh my gosh, I feel like this was a moment. I made scrambled eggs this morning and for once I felt like two and I usually just have one because I have a pre-breakfast before.

I like to have like three mini breakfasts.

But

I cracked the first egg and it was a double yolk and that's never happened to me before.

And it was on the day that I felt like a double egg.

Anneliese (00:23:32):

That's so good.

I've never had one.

Lucy (00:23:36):

Just you wait.

You're lucky.

But yeah, I put it with the salsa we got from the market that is heaven and I've almost finished. So we need to go to the market soon.

Anneliese (00:23:49):

Yeah.

Lucy (00:23:52):

And I haven't done a huge amount of cooking, to be honest.

I have been out so much.

The weather was so good over the long weekend.

I'm dying to make some rice paper rolls tomorrow with like a tamarind tofu.

I have been meaning to make mango sticky rice, but I've just been too full every single day.

Like I've been eating other things that,

you know, when you're out and about and you finally get home, you don't really feel like massive meals.

Anneliese (00:24:20):

Yeah.

Lucy (00:24:22):

But, yeah, what about you?

Please tell me yours are more interesting than my bland food.

Anneliese (00:24:28):

Yeah, same.

I was out, like, a lot of the weekend because it was so sunny and just having, like, beachside salad rolls and stuff.

But Sunday – oh, no, Monday because it's a public holiday, I made just, like, a turmeric rice with, like, green veggies which was really yum um and then I made I made like a yogurt marinade um like a kind of Indian spiced marinade which I put on chicken for Nick and then tofu for me um which was really nice and then I made a mint and coriander chutney oh yeah really good that sounds so fragrant and then um

a this like cucumber and ginger relish that I made last week but it was so good so

I made it again send me the recipe

Lucy

I want to try that we should have a picnic

Anneliese (00:25:37):

um but it's really good and super easy it takes like five minutes um

but I like I'm really liking that combo of like warm hot food with like a really

fragrant like light kind of relish and sauce on it

Lucy (00:25:57):

it reminds me a bit of like Thai food how you have like the cucumber but the chili but it's like also a bit sweet

and it's like warm but hydrating

Anneliese (00:26:08):

and I found this girl on Instagram on the weekend who was like a chef maybe I'm not sure but she was like she's Indian and she was like oh this is brown girl food prep and she just had like all of these like amazing recipes and I was like oh and it's like this kind of like very kind of like modern take on Indian food and I was like oh this is so good so she inspired all these meals

Lucy (00:26:32):

I bought a new cookbook but I ironically haven't been cooking because that is the joy of being out all the time it really sucks that you don't cook as much

Anneliese (00:26:40):

yeah it's like balanced and also now the weather's kind of like taking a bit of a turn so it's a bit more

Lucy (00:26:45):

i mean it's the perfect time for cozy food though very good

Anneliese (00:26:50):

for cozy food i think like oats again this morning oh yum i haven't had oats for ages but i was like oh it's like gray and rainy and cold and like i always

Lucy (00:27:02):

I always miss oats i love oat season it's so good

I did invent a drink on the weekend that's that's my cooking I invented it's like yuzu and tequila like yuzu sake and tequila so you have the tequila first and then you have the yuzu sake and you know tequila is a great probiotic so basically it's and then you get your yuzu which is your vitamin c boost so

Anneliese (00:27:35):

it's a wellness girl drink

Lucy (00:27:45):

I think this weekend I'll try and cook more um we're both going to an event so I might make some pandan madeleines I think is my current brainstorm

Anneliese (00:27:57):

yeah please do but yeah what will I make I don't know

I'll think about it.

I'll update you guys.

Lucy (00:28:06):

Yeah,

this really holds me accountable because I get to these and I'm like,

oh, I haven't been cooking enough.

I need to get cooking.

I'm writing a cookbook and I haven't been cooking.

Anneliese (00:28:16):

Yeah, you need to hurry up with your cookbook.

Lucy (00:28:21):

Yeah, I know.

There's like 10 weeks left to the year.

Isn't that insane?

Anneliese (00:28:26):

Very insane.

Lucy (00:28:28):

I need to be cooking like three times a day every day.

But like it's so hectic at the moment.

How do you get anything done?

I mean, besides everything.

Anneliese (00:28:38):

Yeah, it is really hard.

I've been writing like an Ayurvedic guide to spring,

like it's a little guidebook for people and there's recipes in there and that's

just like the bit where I'm like, because you have to like like test the recipe make sure it's good take like photos

which was spoken about before you can only kind of do it a certain time of day and often not home during that kind of time of day so it's just like all these things stack against you just stuff done

Lucy (00:29:08):

I have recipes too but I have to remake them to check the quantities because half the time you chuck it together and make sure the steps are like easy enough to

follow through and then photographing it it all becomes like it takes a month per

recipe at this rate like it's intense yeah it really is um but yeah I'm excited for

Anneliese (00:29:32):

uh we'll have to get planning uh Scorpio

season event menu soon, which is always really fun.

Lucy (00:29:39):

It'll be really rich and indulgent, I think.

Anneliese (00:29:41):

Yeah, super decadent.

Lucy (00:29:43):

I think that's also perfect because we're pairing it with a bit of a tantra workshop for you guys.

So I think, yeah, it's about indulging a little bit in mindful ways, I think.

Anneliese (00:29:55):

Yeah, like pleasure, pleasure practices, and that includes definitely food.

Lucy (00:30:01):

Yeah, 100%.

Thanks for making it this far.

Sorry for our parasite detour in the middle.

Yeah, hopefully you can choose whether or not you want to listen to that.

We will have the transcript, I think.

Anneliese (00:30:21):

Yes, we've learned how to do transcripts now, so you can just read this if you like.

Lucy (00:30:26):

But feel free to leave us feedback on what you've been vibing in our podcast.

If you have any questions ever and anything you want to hear about more, stay tuned.

We will be launching our release date for our next event very, very soon.

Anneliese (00:30:45):

Yes, please keep in contact.

We just love hearing from you guys.

Lucy (00:30:49):

Always good to hear.

Anneliese (00:30:50):

Bye.

Lucy (00:30:53):

Bye.
